Memramcook does it again!
The Memramcook « Maisons Levesque » Acadiens came out victorious last night 4-2 against the Tracadie-Sheila Alpines. They are now leading this best-of-seven series 2-0. Mathieu-Girard had the first goal for Memramcook in the second. For Tracadie-Sheila, Martin McGraw and Glen Robichaud generated the offense.
The Regular Season Champions have no choice; they must win the next game to swing some momentum their way. Trailing 0-3 against Memramcook wouldn’t be a good option since the Acadiens have proven it during the current playoffs that they have a lot of offense. Michel Breau is also doing a great job between the pipes.
Will the Alpines be able to come back in this series? To see it live you’ll have to be in Tracadie-Sheila on Sunday, March 18. Game #3 will start at 6:30PM.
TRACADIE-SHEILA: Martin McGraw 1-1, Glen Robichaud 1-0, Ryan Ferguson 0-2. MEMRAMCOOK: Mathieu Betournay 2-0, Sylvain Rodier 1-3, Ian Mathieu-Girard 1-0.

Memramcook runs over Tracadie-Sheila!
The Memramcook « Maisons Levesque » Acadiens caused another surprise in the North East Senior Hockey League Playoffs. The fans were expecting a tight game but Memramcook had other plans in mind. They ended up taking a 1-0 lead in the series with an 8-1 blowout.Tracadie-Sheila took the commands early in the game and Frederic Doucet opened up the score after a perfect exchange. The celebrations would be cut short after Memramcook scored three goals in three minutes before the end of the first. Two of these goals were scored on the power play.
In the second period, Tracadie-Sheila fought hard to come back in the game but Michel Breau closed the door each time. Memramcook added another power play goal before the end of the period to take a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes.
Everything was still possible for the Alpines who are known for coming out strong in the third period. Anders Frees made sure that didn’t happen this time as he scored early in the third to make it 5-1. Memramcook managed to score three more goals against a team who had obviously give up halfway in the third.
Tracadie-Sheila will have to stay out of the penalty box if they wish to have a shot at the title. Memramcook managed to score some big goals on the power play especially early in the game. NESHL Final Preview
The final of the NESHL will oppose the Tracadie-Sheila Alpines to the Memramcook « Maisons Levesque » Acadiens. Tracadie-Sheila ended their regular season with 41 points (15-2-1) while Memramcook got 20 points (7-9-2). During the regular season, there were two games between these two teams. In November, Memramcook won 5-3 on their home ice. Tracadie-Sheila did the same in January 8-5.So far in the playoffs, Memramcook has caused somewhat of a surprise since they were last in the East Division. Their 7-2 record was all they needed to get rid of Cap-Pele and Bouctouche in their two previous series. As for Tracadie-Sheila, they sent Miramichi on vacation in five games.
The goaltenders in this series will surely be buzy as both teams can count on an impressive offensive squad. Before the start of this final, both McGraw from Tracadie-Sheila and Betournay from Memramcook share the playoff leading scoring spot with 17 points. McGraw did it in only five games while Betournay has played 9 games so far. For the Alpines, the McGraw-R. Doucet-F. Doucet did a lot of damage against the Phantoms, so if Memramcook wishes to take home the league’s banner they will have to find a way to stop that line.
Who will you put your money on? Tracadie-Sheila who won the last three titles in the now defunct NSSHL or Memramcook who are on a mission right now?
The first game of this serie will be played in Tracadie-Sheila on Wednesday, March 14. The puck drop will be at 8h30PM. The second game will be in Memramcook on Friday, March 16 starting at 8h00PM.

Rodier scored his second of the night in an empty net.
Memramcook who finished last in the East Division has played inspired hockey since they playoffs started. Miramichi vs Tracadie-Sheila – preview
The North division best-of-seven final will start this Friday in Tracadie-Sheila. These two teams won’t need any presentation when they’ll get on the ice for this matchup. They had their stories over the years in the now defunct NSSHL and earlier this year at the Civic Center.Tracadie-Sheila had the best record in the entire league during the regular season with a total of 41 points. They suffered two regulation losts and one overtime lost. For Miramichi, they managed to get 22 points and played for .500 (8-8-2). Both teams are tough to beat at home and as shown in the first round of the playoff, the home team won 7 of the 8 games.
For Tracadie-Sheila, the return of Martin McGraw helped an already dangerous offensive squad. Remi Doucet and Daniel Basque were the top scorers for Tracadie this season with 27 points each. Tracadie’s can count on three lines that can chip in on a regular basis. They have a good defensive squad and they have an experience goalie in Austin.
For Miramichi, they managed to get a lot of experience and great playmaking abilities when they signed Todd Parker. When you add a guy like Parker to Bryce Silliker (27 pts) and Jeff Wilson (26 pts), you have a good chance to get a few goals in. Miramichi has a younger roster than Tracadie but they like to play rough and they have a lot of intensity. They have a good mix of young guns and veterans on their defensive squad.
During the regular season, Tracadie won 5 of their 6 matchups, but there were no blowouts. With everything on the line, you can expect both teams to have full line-ups at every game.
The first game of this epic duel will be in Tracadie-Sheila on Friday, Feburary 24 and the puck drop will be at 8:30 PM. The second game of the serie will be in Miramichi on Sunday, February 26. This one is set to start at 9:00 PM. Fans should expect a big crowd for both those games so you should be there early in order to get the best seats.
Good luck to both team’s management, coaching staff and players.

Memramcook vs Bouctouche - preview
The East division best of seven final will start this Friday in Bouctouche. Midway into the season, Bouctouche seemed like a big favorite straight to the league's final. Memramcook kept a few surprises in their bag for late in the season and showed what they were made off in the first round.Bouctouche had the best record with 33 points while Memramcook had 20 points. Bouctouche got the edge over Memramcook in the regular season 4-2. Bouctouche also has Jason Rinzler in their rank who finished as the league top scorer. Could you say Bouctouche has a big advantage in this serie ?
Yes is probably not the right answer here. Five of their six regular season match ended up with a one goal margin, the other game was by a two goal margin. Of those four loses, Memramcook had the lead late in a few games but Bouctouche always found a way to come back. Bouctouche record in their last five game is 1-4, while Memramcook is red hot after sweeping Cap-Pele.
This serie should be an action packed one as both teams have a lot of talent in their line-up. Rinzler, Lymburner, Goguen, Lockyer, Cormier, Nicholas, Betournay, Rodier, Glode, Girard, Melanson just to name a few.
The first four games of the serie has been added on the website, the first beeing this Friday in Bouctouche at 8h45. The second game will be played in Memramcook on Sunday at 7PM. December 2nd game incident
The North East Senior Hockey League is sorry about the turn of event that occurred during the game between Tracadie-Sheila and Miramichi on Friday night. The league is against that type of performance and it’s not the type of hockey we want to offer to our fans. We are taking this situation extremely seriously. The league’s president, Roger Brun, decided to call the game off after the brawl that occurred at 6:59 of the second period. A decision regarding the result of that game will be taken at a later date.
As soon as we’ll receive the official report, there will be disciplinary sanctions for the player engaged in that brawl. The security of our players is our main concern and we cannot accept such behavior from some players.
We will have a discussion with Hockey New Brunswick and the Senior Hockey Director before taking our decision to ensure we are within their rules.
To our fans, we are truly sorry about this situation. Every efforts will be made to ensure this kind of incidents stay out of our league.
The NESHL’s President
